Ohio Northern University is an independent, comprehensive University located in the scenic village of Ada, Ohio. The University has a 94 percent job and graduate school placement rate. Our long-standing success is partly because of excellent professors, partly because of ambitious students, and partly because we’ve always been rooted in the future. At ONU, students move toward a career long before they graduate–and the successes of our alumni prove it. With top-ranked programs and opportunities outside the classroom, any path a student chooses at ONU will be grounded in concrete applications for the future.
The University comprises five colleges: Arts & Sciences, Business Administration, Engineering, Pharmacy and Law. Since our inception in 1871, we’ve been devoted to developing students who are ready to immerse themselves and progress to the next level in everything they do.
ONU has a rich history of academic excellence, and we’re always evolving to meet society’s ever-changing needs. We’ve most recently been recognized for teaching quality, high graduation rates, commitment to volunteer service and, most impressively, providing a high return on investment for our graduates.
Ohio Northern values excellence, innovation, technology, diversity and our people. With an 11:1 student-faculty ratio, our students get lots of personal attention from professors who are passionate about teaching and mentoring. In fact, our more than 210 full-time faculty members bring extensive academic, work, travel and life experience to their classrooms.
Our scenic, safe and modern campus rests on nearly 342 acres in the village of Ada, Ohio. Our location provides a small-town atmosphere that complements the friendly environment found on campus. Ada offers an array of restaurants, shopping and culture.
Students can choose from a variety of campus activities, including more than 200 student organizations; four national sororities and five national fraternities; fine arts, music, and theatrical events; and intramural and club sports. Residence hall living is an integral part of the educational program and contributes to a student’s personal development. There are nine residence halls on campus as well as eight campus apartment complexes and an Affinity Housing complex.
The ONU Polar Bears compete successfully at the NCAA Division III level in 23 varsity sports as part of the highly respected Ohio Athletic Conference. ONU has 12 men’s teams (baseball, basketball, cross-country, football, golf, lacrosse, soccer, swimming and diving, tennis, indoor and outdoor track, and wrestling) and 11 women’s teams (basketball, cross-country, fast-pitch softball, golf, lacrosse, soccer, swimming and diving, tennis, indoor and outdoor track, and volleyball).
